    Much better than what the reviews would make you expect. My only criticism is that what they call "Mexican Food" is really more like Spanish food. For example --my Mexican steak platter was served with white rice and fried potatoes, which is very similar to a dish I had in Spain. News flash-- authentic Mexican food is served with BEANS and Spanish (not white) rice! However, the prices are way reasonable for Miami Beach, and the steak was amazing for only $15. The meat was cooked perfectly, and they had decent chips and salsa. My wife loved her shrimp ceviche. It was as good as any we've had in CA, and the quality of the shrimp was excellent for the $12 price tag. Overall, a very good dining experience for the price!

    Happened to be looking for a place to eat and pass by and ran into this place, the food was good but the service was so so and a 15% was included in the bill. I also wanted to change the the yellow Mexican rice for a white and they charged me which I thought was ridiculous, over all, huh...

    I really love Colombian food. This is one of the closest Colombian restaurants near my home. They also serve Mexican food. I'm not sure why because I don't think they're any good. I ordered steak tacos once, the absolute worst decision I've ever had. They didn't even have any sauces for me to put on my dry tacos. They offered me ranch dressing. Lol. I'm not even making this up. Now I know better to never order Mexican food from this place. Like I said, the Colombian restaurant is pretty good, not the best, but good enough to satisfy my craving for Colombian food.

    Hubby and I decided to take a stroll to find dinner. Well we got caught in the rain and im so glad we did!! We came upon this restaurant, looked at the menu and decided this was where we would have din din. The decor is authentic with all the drawings and paintings. Pretty cool. Our waitress was really nice and brought us chips and salsa before even taking our drink orders. I have to say this salsa was delish and it had a nice little kick in it. So far so good. Hubby knows I love a good ceviche so he ordered the shrimp....my gosh u know how sometimes u order shrimp and there's like three....well not here..it was shrimp overload and I was filled with pure joy. For our entree we both ordered carne asada. ..Joyyyyyyy The meat was big and delish, the red beans full of flavor and the tostones were perfectly fried..no oil at all in any bite. The service, food, and although we came by foot there was alot of parking. This place is perfect. Now someone come help me roll out of this place....

    One star is for the plantains, they were the only thing worth eating and they were very good. I ordered bean nachos with no sour cream + jalapenos what I got for $8.00 was a salad size plate with a few chips covered with cheese and a tiny dollop of refried beans and a huge pile of sour cream and no jalapenos. The chips were intermittently rubbery or hard as rocks and basically totally not edible. I asked if they were cooked in the microwave and the waitress said she didn't know how they were cooked. Hubby ordered the roasted vegetable fajitas . His plate was served heaping full of potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and onions . They may have been roasted but they started from frozen cut vegetables that ended up soggy and gross. The potatoes were the only thing on the plate we could actually eat. Daughter ordered french fries. how can you mess up french fries? these were served mostly raw, soggy, oily potato glop. They were disgusting! When I told the waitress our food was not good she was so surprised and asked if we wanted to change it for something else and we declined and asked for the check.. when they brought the check they had added $5.80 on for a tip and believe me that was the only way they were going to get it. $38 of food that we threw out. Don't waste your time or money here.

    I haven't eaten here but apparently they accept stolen credit cards since mine was stolen and people ate up a feast here. If that's any indication of what kind of establishment they run, I wouldn't go here!

    Worst restaurant on this street. They didnt have half of the items on the menu. We ordered a cazuela and it was tasteless and had very few seafood in it. It was just water with cream and a few shrimp. The place is a disgrace to Colombian food.

    Even one star is too much for this place. We sat there an hour before our plates got to the table and not to mention that there was a party of 6 come 40 minutes after we did and their plates came out before ours! When we mentioned this to the server she said it was because that was a bigger party and they needed to attent to them first. Are you kidding me? Well when we got our plates that meat was raw after letting the server know that we had enough and we were going to leave the cook comes out with an attitude demanding to know why we returned his food after letting him know it was raw he didn't even apologize he simply said he could cook it right and we also asked why the party that arrived almost an hour after us got their food first he gave us an attitude and said the same thing the server said that it was because they had a bigger party. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!! Never again

    If I could give negative stars, I would. This is hands down the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Period. Not only was the salsa rotten, as in spoiled, but the food was inedible. We tried to cancel our order after tasting the rotten salsa, but we're told we'd still have to pay whether we received our food or not. When the food came, it was not fit for human consumption. We complained that the food was inedible, and the owner came out and argued with us for about fifteen minutes, telling us that we were wrong. We tried feeding our meat entree to our dog, who refused to eat it. When have you heard of a dog turning down meat? The owner then said that maybe the dog was just 'full'. We made a point of not touching our plates further than our initial 2-3 bites, then told him they could throw the food away since it wasn't meant to be eaten. He shrugged and went back inside, then sent the waitress with our bill for $56. When I got home I was so incensed that I researched the restaurant's health code violations and wasn't surprised to find over 20 of them in a 3 year period. This place is poison.

    This is a follow-up... I have been here several times. The last time I was here I had an enchalada and it was quite subpar. On this visit it was quite different. I decided to come for lunch, I sat down outside (they have a few tables) and started with a cappuccino, which wasn't very good. Avoid the coffee here. I then ordered a Chicken Chimichanga which was surprisingly decent. The chips and salsa they provide for free are good, and the salsa is very hot, which is always awesome in my book. I then did not need to ask for hot sauce to drench everything in which actually made the meal pretty much. It came with some guacamole, sour cream, rice, and the beans were in the wrapped goodness. Overall everything was surprisingly good, and the service was attentive and nice as well. I'm upping this to 4 stars based on a redeeming meal!

    Tastes Like Sadness This is probably the worst meal that I have had in years and certainly the worst food I have ever eaten out in Miami. Sub-par would be a high compliment. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about our dining experience. El Tablazo is a hole in the wall of dubious hygiene serving Columbian and Mexican food located in a strip center in North Beach. This proved to be a fatal combination. It was late, and we were hungry and in the area, so decided why not. In retrospect, IHOP would have been the better decision. We started our meal with an empenada. It had a bizarre and foul odor, thick with grease. Barely edible. Next came the guacamole and salsa. Both had a faintly pickled taste reminiscent of the neon pink liquid that comes in those jars of pickled pigs feet sold at convenience markets in the deep south. The guacamole was a weird color, tasting as if it came from a can with a slime-like consistency, almost like liquified green jell-o. The salsa was like pickled pigs feet liquid, katsup, excessive salt, and copious amounts of hot pepper. The taste was evocative of the plantar wart and pustule covered feet of an unwashed person who had been walking city streets barefoot for years. Completely inedible. The chips were lukewarm and broken. Indescribably repugnant. My companion ordered the Bandeja Paisa, a Columbian Staple. The Columbian sausage on the plate was excessively fatty. It was so bad that even our dog refused it. Four paws down. The beans were watery and slightly rotten tasting, the egg was runny, the steak was small and charred and tough. Thoroughly terrible. I made the fatal error of ordering the vegetable fajitas. In the arena of Mexican food, Taco Bell is comparatively fine dining. What I received was so wrong. The cold charred flavorless dry fajitas consisted of frozen and thawed Cauliflower, Carrots, Potatoes, Broccoli, and two strips of green and red peppers mixed with about two almost raw onions. The tortillas were from a bag and hard and cold. Who ever heard of carrot fajitas. Its worse than it sounds. We complained to the owner, Omar Sanchez requesting to send the awful food back to the depths from which it came. He proceeded to argue with us on the verge of yelling at us for fifteen minutes telling us that we were just overwhelmed by the generous (hah) portions and fine quality of the food, refused to make us something different or take it back to the kitchen, and charged us the full price- tip included. This is unheard of and breaks a cardinal rule of hospitality. Atrocious atrocious service. If you have never been here, don't ever go. Our dog hated this place and so did we.

    Came here with the wife for breakfast. We had two different Colombian Breakfasts. They were both very good. They were also priced very fairly. Service was fair, but they have a parking lot which is a big plus in Miami Beach. I would go back to his restaurant if I ever return to Miami Beach.

    Yuck. The salsa was weirdly sweet with a lot of raw onion. The shrimp was gross and the salad inedible. Were those canned carrots? The fried plantains were the only thing worth eating. And the whole thing cost $22. Not worth it at all.

    I wish I could give negative stars... To start, they brought some really small cold empanadas and tasteless.... Then they took too long to bring the drinks, forgot to mention they have a small place, more or less 80 ppl capacity and they had 6 waitresses plus a manager.. The waitress was really rude and the attention was horrible, forgot to bring the silverware and even when we got the food served she still took her time... Once our dinner was served, we got disappointed again because of how expensive dishes were compared to the mexican / colombian ration served in other restaurants of the same ethnicity.... Food was also tasteless and not at all good looking, looked like a cheap ass fast food presentation... Finally when the check was given, by an angry waitress (forgot to mention, so far we never complained) the manager comes to our table smiling and asks us to give them a good review in Google... We called the manager afterwards again and he did not show any sympathy and sent a waitress because he knew we wanted to ask why the tip was mandatory writing in the check, I did not want to leave any tip to this horrible service... well, to conclude I wil never go back... save yourself some time amd look for a better place to eat.

    This dump of a restaurant is really a hidden gem in the North Beach area. El Tablazo is located in a strip mall on 67th and Collins Avenue next to the Dunkin Donuts. Based on the appearance, you would never even think of stopping in here unless you worked in this strip mall. I used to come here quite often for Breakfast and Lunch when I lived in Miami Beach. Once you get over the surroundings and the questionable English on the menu you'll get some very good food at an awesome price. El Tablazo is primarily a Mexican/Colombian restaurant, but for breakfast there is also an "American" option. Most entrees are under $4 and include coffee, toast and potatoes. The Rancheros Eggs ("Mexican") - two fried eggs over flour tortilla with our hot sauce, are my favorite. Great bang for your buck on the beach. For lunch, there are a lot of different Mexican and Colombian options. I usually stick to the Colombian with the Colombian Picada (basically a mini bandeja paisa) being my favorite. Most entrees are under $10 - again a great deal on the beach. The clientele here is almost exclusively latin and there may be only one employee here that speaks English (if you are lucky). But the wait staff is very friendly here, and you can probably just point at the menu if you don't speak Spanish. There are strobe lights and a mirror ball on the ceiling so I will assume it gets wild and crazy here late night. If you are looking for some good food in a no frills environment, definitely give El Tablazo a try.

    I stopped here in the late evening with my family over the weekend. El Tablazo is in a small strip mall on Collins (parking is a plus, though you MUST park in the marked spots to avoid being towed). The menu is split between Colombian and Mexican specialties including Tex Mex items like nachos and chimichangas, as well as Colombian arepas. Food is served with complimentary freshly fried chips, which were crispy and thin and a relatively hot salsa. My mom and I opted for the nachos, while my brother got the Colombian beef brisket. At $9.50 the large brisket was an incredible deal, served with a garden salad, white rice and boiled yuca and potato. The meat was tender and flavorful without being overly seasoned. Highly recommend it. The nacho toppings were fine, steak was seasoned, but the beans could have used some more flavor. 4 stars for the Colombian food, but 2.5 for the Mexican. Overall, I recommend this place and will probably stop by to try some more items.

    We have been here a few times because it is across the street from our building. The food is very good and they have a unique take on a lot of standard Mexican fare. The service is friendly and the prices are good. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood.

    Their Colombian empanadas are amazing, their Colombian platter with all the meats and rice beans egg maduros and chicharon etc.. I never tried their mexican food but the rest is really good. They deliver to south beach for a 5 dollar delivery charge.

    I love this place!!! It was really close to the hotel we were staying at so we thought we would check it out. The coffee is DELICIOUS!!!!! I am still thinking about it....... I had never tried Colombian cuisine so I ordered a Colombian dish. It was awesome!! The cheese was very good and the steak was delicious! I would come back here again.

    I got charged $2.00 for a side of Jalapeños, $2.00 for a side of tortillas and 17% of top already included. food was good, thought I think it's outrageous that a fajita only comes with 3 tortillas and I get charged for extras... good music, food is good. though I won't come back.

    We happen-chance walked by and I spotted this hole-in-the-wall Colombian Restaurant, while looking for breakfast/lunch near the hotel. Haven't had Colombian in a long while so I was yay to this potentially good discovery. Cute, little place. I can tell it was authentic. I ordered Colombian BifStek with eggs on top. It came with side of rice and salad ($11.99). I also ordered freshly squeezed OJ for the girls and of course, Cuban Coffee. The food came in a timely manner, and the service was casual and laid back. (If you're looking for wonderful service from staff, such as "Hi, how are you doing? Or is everything ok, or Anything else?" No, you will not find it here) This restaurant is very relaxed. They are nice, not rude. They're just doing their job. And you know ...I like it here. No one bothers you. My food came. I took one look and da-da damn!!! It looked so mouth-watering delicious. I asked for Aji Sauce because I like it hot. I cut my beef and took a bite. Boom in my mouth. Yasssss!!!! This is when I say I had food-gasm. The beef, I'm thinking skirt steak, was JUICY and TENDER!!!! Filled with phenomenal flavors!! Best steak I had in Miami so far. Colombian Beef Steak!!! A definite must-have here, if you're looking for delicious Carne. Although I had to ask for a glass of water several times, I didn't feel that she was annoyed or lazy. She's just whatever...so ..whatever...who cares? The food was amazing.

    I had the House Special. It was rice, beans, a sausage, pork belly, steak, sweet plantains, and half an avocado. Everything was good except for the pork. It was just hard to stomach all that fried fat. I particularly enjoyed the steak. It was delicious. My girlfriend ordered the brisket and it was great. The sauce that the brisket and potatoes were cooked in really made the dish delicious. Both of our plates were piled high with food. Neither of us were members of the clean plate club.

    Start out plain and simple the food is amazing, between the ceviche and the beef, amazing. Can't say a single bad thing about the food, the service was kind of lacking though which is why no 5 stars. That tells you how amazing the food is that I'm giving it 4 stars still. Go have a good Columbian beer and some great authentic food and you'll understand.

When I got home I was so incensed that I researched the restaurant's health code violations and wasn't surprised to find over 20 of them in a 3 year period. This place is poison.

    This is a follow-up... I have been here several times. The last time I was here I had an enchalada and it was quite subpar. On this visit it was quite different. I decided to come for lunch, I sat down outside (they have a few tables) and started with a cappuccino, which wasn't very good. Avoid the coffee here. I then ordered a Chicken Chimichanga which was surprisingly decent. The chips and salsa they provide for free are good, and the salsa is very hot, which is always awesome in my book. I then did not need to ask for hot sauce to drench everything in which actually made the meal pretty much. It came with some guacamole, sour cream, rice, and the beans were in the wrapped goodness. Overall everything was surprisingly good, and the service was attentive and nice as well. I'm upping this to 4 stars based on a redeeming meal!

    This dump of a restaurant is really a hidden gem in the North Beach area. El Tablazo is located in a strip mall on 67th and Collins Avenue next to the Dunkin Donuts. Based on the appearance, you would never even think of stopping in here unless you worked in this strip mall. I used to come here quite often for Breakfast and Lunch when I lived in Miami Beach. Once you get over the surroundings and the questionable English on the menu you'll get some very good food at an awesome price. El Tablazo is primarily a Mexican/Colombian restaurant, but for breakfast there is also an "American" option. Most entrees are under $4 and include coffee, toast and potatoes. The Rancheros Eggs ("Mexican") - two fried eggs over flour tortilla with our hot sauce, are my favorite. Great bang for your buck on the beach. For lunch, there are a lot of different Mexican and Colombian options. I usually stick to the Colombian with the Colombian Picada (basically a mini bandeja paisa) being my favorite. Most entrees are under $10 - again a great deal on the beach. The clientele here is almost exclusively latin and there may be only one employee here that speaks English (if you are lucky). But the wait staff is very friendly here, and you can probably just point at the menu if you don't speak Spanish. There are strobe lights and a mirror ball on the ceiling so I will assume it gets wild and crazy here late night. If you are looking for some good food in a no frills environment, definitely give El Tablazo a try.

    Much better than what the reviews would make you expect. My only criticism is that what they call "Mexican Food" is really more like Spanish food. For example --my Mexican steak platter was served with white rice and fried potatoes, which is very similar to a dish I had in Spain. News flash-- authentic Mexican food is served with BEANS and Spanish (not white) rice! However, the prices are way reasonable for Miami Beach, and the steak was amazing for only $15. The meat was cooked perfectly, and they had decent chips and salsa. My wife loved her shrimp ceviche. It was as good as any we've had in CA, and the quality of the shrimp was excellent for the $12 price tag. Overall, a very good dining experience for the price!

    Tastes Like Sadness This is probably the worst meal that I have had in years and certainly the worst food I have ever eaten out in Miami. Sub-par would be a high compliment. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about our dining experience. El Tablazo is a hole in the wall of dubious hygiene serving Columbian and Mexican food located in a strip center in North Beach. This proved to be a fatal combination. It was late, and we were hungry and in the area, so decided why not. In retrospect, IHOP would have been the better decision. We started our meal with an empenada. It had a bizarre and foul odor, thick with grease. Barely edible. Next came the guacamole and salsa. Both had a faintly pickled taste reminiscent of the neon pink liquid that comes in those jars of pickled pigs feet sold at convenience markets in the deep south. The guacamole was a weird color, tasting as if it came from a can with a slime-like consistency, almost like liquified green jell-o. The salsa was like pickled pigs feet liquid, katsup, excessive salt, and copious amounts of hot pepper. The taste was evocative of the plantar wart and pustule covered feet of an unwashed person who had been walking city streets barefoot for years. Completely inedible. The chips were lukewarm and broken. Indescribably repugnant. My companion ordered the Bandeja Paisa, a Columbian Staple. The Columbian sausage on the plate was excessively fatty. It was so bad that even our dog refused it. Four paws down. The beans were watery and slightly rotten tasting, the egg was runny, the steak was small and charred and tough. Thoroughly terrible. I made the fatal error of ordering the vegetable fajitas. In the arena of Mexican food, Taco Bell is comparatively fine dining. What I received was so wrong. The cold charred flavorless dry fajitas consisted of frozen and thawed Cauliflower, Carrots, Potatoes, Broccoli, and two strips of green and red peppers mixed with about two almost raw onions. The tortillas were from a bag and hard and cold. Who ever heard of carrot fajitas. Its worse than it sounds. We complained to the owner, Omar Sanchez requesting to send the awful food back to the depths from which it came. He proceeded to argue with us on the verge of yelling at us for fifteen minutes telling us that we were just overwhelmed by the generous (hah) portions and fine quality of the food, refused to make us something different or take it back to the kitchen, and charged us the full price- tip included. This is unheard of and breaks a cardinal rule of hospitality. Atrocious atrocious service. If you have never been here, don't ever go. Our dog hated this place and so did we.

    I wish I could give negative stars... To start, they brought some really small cold empanadas and tasteless.... Then they took too long to bring the drinks, forgot to mention they have a small place, more or less 80 ppl capacity and they had 6 waitresses plus a manager.. The waitress was really rude and the attention was horrible, forgot to bring the silverware and even when we got the food served she still took her time... Once our dinner was served, we got disappointed again because of how expensive dishes were compared to the mexican / colombian ration served in other restaurants of the same ethnicity.... Food was also tasteless and not at all good looking, looked like a cheap ass fast food presentation... Finally when the check was given, by an angry waitress (forgot to mention, so far we never complained) the manager comes to our table smiling and asks us to give them a good review in Google... We called the manager afterwards again and he did not show any sympathy and sent a waitress because he knew we wanted to ask why the tip was mandatory writing in the check, I did not want to leave any tip to this horrible service... well, to conclude I wil never go back... save yourself some time amd look for a better place to eat.

    I stopped here in the late evening with my family over the weekend. El Tablazo is in a small strip mall on Collins (parking is a plus, though you MUST park in the marked spots to avoid being towed). The menu is split between Colombian and Mexican specialties including Tex Mex items like nachos and chimichangas, as well as Colombian arepas. Food is served with complimentary freshly fried chips, which were crispy and thin and a relatively hot salsa. My mom and I opted for the nachos, while my brother got the Colombian beef brisket. At $9.50 the large brisket was an incredible deal, served with a garden salad, white rice and boiled yuca and potato. The meat was tender and flavorful without being overly seasoned. Highly recommend it. The nacho toppings were fine, steak was seasoned, but the beans could have used some more flavor. 4 stars for the Colombian food, but 2.5 for the Mexican. Overall, I recommend this place and will probably stop by to try some more items.

    We have been here a few times because it is across the street from our building. The food is very good and they have a unique take on a lot of standard Mexican fare. The service is friendly and the prices are good. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood.

    Their Colombian empanadas are amazing, their Colombian platter with all the meats and rice beans egg maduros and chicharon etc.. I never tried their mexican food but the rest is really good. They deliver to south beach for a 5 dollar delivery charge.

    I love this place!!! It was really close to the hotel we were staying at so we thought we would check it out. The coffee is DELICIOUS!!!!! I am still thinking about it....... I had never tried Colombian cuisine so I ordered a Colombian dish. It was awesome!! The cheese was very good and the steak was delicious! I would come back here again.
